about

"In My Time of Dyin' " derives directly from an old Gospel song. There have been numerous versions, some of them written as early as 1925. This one features a sparse guitar accompaniment that utilizes a lot of hammer on and pull off notes as well as the slide technique all of which contribute to a stark and powerful song.

lyrics

In My Time of Dyin'
Traditional
as sung by T R Munday

Now in my time of dying
Don't want no one to moan
All I want my friends to do
Is take my body home

Well well well, so I can die easy
Well well well, so I can die easy
Well well well, so I can die easy
Jesus gonna' make my dying bed

Meet me Jesus meet me
Won't you meet me in the middle of the air?
And if these wings should fail me Lord
Won't you meet me with another pair?

Well well well, won't you meet me Jesus?
Well well well, won't you meet me Jesus?
Well well well, won't you meet me Jesus?
Jesus gonna' make my dying bed

I'm going down to the river
Gonna' walk upon the sand
Gonna' shout my trouble's over Lord
I done made it to the Promised Land

Well well well, I done crossed over
Well well well, I done crossed over
Well well well, I done crossed over
Jesus gonna' make my dying bed

Long time I been walking
I ain't walking no more
Long time I been dying
Come upon that happy shore

Well well well, I can die easy
Well well well, I can die easy
Well well well, I can die easy
Jesus gonna' make my dying bed

I'm going down to the river
Gonna' walk upon the sand
Gonna' shout my trouble's over Lord
I made it to the Promised Land

Well well well, I've done crossed over
Well well well, I've done crossed over
Well well well, I've done crossed over
Jesus gonna' make my dying bed
