"Blackbird Blues" is an old, old song which has been one of my favorites for a long time, but I didn't know the whole song. What further confused things was that there are two (at least) songs that go by that name. The part I could remember was too short to stand on its own. Fortunately I ran into a man who knew the rest of it, this past year. That's the way it goes.
It is played on a 70's vintage Ensenada 12 string acoustic guitar with 80/20 bronze D'Addario .010-.047 EJ36 strings in this recording.

Blackbird Blues
Traditional - as sung by T R Munday
If I was a blackbird, I'd pack my troubles on my back.
If I was a blackbird, I'd pack my troubles on my back.
I would leave this world tomorrow, and I never would look back.
Blues flew on the mountain, but they didn't stay too long.
Blues flew on the mountain, but they didn't stay too long.
You can tell by the song I'm singing, I didn't treat them wrong.
My baby left me, and she didn't say goodbye.
My baby left me, and she didn't say goodbye.
I asked the nesting blackbird, to tell me the reason why.
Lord, send me someone, don't want nobody but me.
Lord, send me someone, don't want nobody but me.
Because these blackbird blues, Lord they sure burn me.
If I was an old crow, I'd know just what to do.
If I was an old crow, I'd know just what to do.
You know, an old crow, is smarter than me and you.
My true love is a beauty in every degree.
My true love is a beauty in every degree.
And my heart is breakin', because she don't love me.
I tell you my sorrow, my grief and my woe.
I tell you my sorrow, my grief and my woe.
If I could find her, I'd never let her go.
If I was a blackbird, I'd pack my troubles on my back.
If I was a blackbird, I'd pack my troubles on my back.
I would leave this world tomorrow, and I never would look back.
